Our Story

How We Got Here

Exploration Ready was founded by a couple of outdoor enthusiasts who love to get out and explore as much as possible while thriving in the solitude of the great outdoors.  Be it hiking, biking, rock crawling, or overlanding we discovered that very few retailers, and even fewer in the wheeled motorized recreation world put adequate effort into supplying key products to keep people out of the ER and always Exploration Ready.

Kris is an engineer by profession who spends most of his days in an office and weekends on the trails.  Growing up on a farm taught him the basics of figuring out anything with what you have on hand.  Becoming an Eagle Scout and volunteering for search and rescue gave him the foundational training to handle pretty much any back county situation.

Jessica is a paramedic by profession who spends her work week on the ambulance.  On the weekends she loves taking backroads and trails to one of her favorite camp sites or swimming holes in the sierras.  Jessica holds numerous certifications, 7 years experience in emergency medical services, and is trained in Wilderness medicine. 

Sadie is a dog that was born for Exploration.  Sadie is a 5 yr old McNabb mix who is just at home bouncing in the back of the Jeep as she is leading a 12 miles hike. She is first into the swimming holes and isn't comfortable until the campfire is lit and everyone is seated comfortably.
